Let’s tell you
Whole story

The inspiration for the name 'Whole' came to me during a run. It embodies the idea that children with developmental differences are complete, unique, and individual, not broken or incomplete. Additionally, it reflects my comprehensive approach to occupational therapy, which considers the full spectrum of occupational function, including the influence of sensory processing, reflex integration, praxis, attachment and more.

As an Occupational Therapist, I meticulously examine how these factors affect daily activities at home, school, and within the broader community for each person. In practice, I am committed to a developmental, bottom-up approach, crafting intervention plans tailored to each child and family, utilizing various therapeutic methods like the DIR Floortime model, Ayers sensory integration, and Tomatis® listening, to name a few.

    THERAPIST & FOUNDER

I'm deeply passionate about the incredible opportunity to work alongside children and young people, supporting them as they strive to realise their fullest potential. Since graduating as an Occupational Therapist in 2010, my focus has been on specialising in pediatric care, working closely with children, young adults, and their families.

My journey began in private pediatric practice in 2012, following the completion of my mandatory Community Service Year in 2011, a unique requirement for all medical and para-medical students in South Africa. As a co-owner of a specialised clinic from 2015, I honed my expertise before embarking on a new chapter in the UK in May 2019.

Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working with individuals of all ages, from infancy to adulthood, addressing a diverse range of diagnoses and challenges. My practice involves conducting thorough assessments and delivering tailored Occupational Therapy services within clinic settings, as well as through group and individual therapy sessions.

My specialisation lies in the assessment and treatment of children and young people with various conditions, including Autism, DCD, neurological disorders, pervasive developmental disorders, attention and behaviour difficulties, sensory processing challenges, and trauma. Utilising both standardised and non-standardised assessments, I employ a specialist level of analysis to provide comprehensive diagnostic insights and contribute to accurate prognosis and intervention strategies. Drawing from complex theoretical models such as child development theory, the model of human occupation, attachment theory, and sensory integration theory, I ensure my clinical work is informed and effective.

I am constantly striving to enhance the quality of services available to children and their families by attending regular courses and mentoring. In addition to my clinical practice at Whole Occupational Therapy, I'm dedicated to education and mentorship, imparting knowledge and skills to fellow therapists, parents, and teachers in therapeutic interventions like the DIR Floortime model.

My commitment to professional development and evidence-based practice is unwavering. I am fully registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and ethical conduct, as outlined by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists. Holding an up-to-date Advanced DBS Certificate, I ensure the safety and well-being of all those under my care.

What our parents say about us

“When we first met Millicent, I finally felt like someone understood our son’s challenges for the first time in years of assessments. Since starting therapy, our son has made huge progress in so many areas. Millicent manages to make our sessions fun, and our son looks forwards to going to see her every week. I just wish we had found her sooner..”
